Greetings Kingston Hill Academy Community!

I know that you most likely have questions related to the start of the school year that hopefully will be answered by the end of this newsletter.

 

By now you no doubt have heard that we are having a Back-to-School Event on Monday, August 29th from 5pm – 7pm.

What to expect at the Monday, Aug. 29th

Welcome Back-to-School Event

Class Lists will be posted at this event.

  1. Come by between 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm (Volunteers arrive 30 minutes before your shift start time).
  2. Tables will be set up outside where teachers/staff will be seated by grade to greet their students. You can drop off classroom donations and meet your child’s teacher! They will have T-shirts indicating what grade they teach.
  3. Food trucks will be available if you get hungry.
  4. Carr & Nurse Judy will be around ready to answer your questions about our Back-2-School Plan or to answer general questions.

What to Expect at the Monday, Aug. 29th Welcome Back to School Event

if it Rains:

  1. Class lists will still be posted at this event.
  2. Drop in but come in the front door between 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm (Volunteers arrive 30 minutes prior to shift time).
  3. Tables will be set up in the MPR for Grades 2, 4 & 5 where teachers/staff will be seated by grade to greet their students. K and 1 teachers will be in their respective classrooms. Grade 3 will be set up in the hall right outside their classrooms in the “library”.
  4. Staff will be available to show you where to go.
  5. Please exit through the nearest door when leaving.
  6. Food trucks will be available outside.
  7. Nurse Judy will be in the Maker Space ready to answer your questions about KHA’s Back-to-School Plan or other general health office questions.

*If you can not make the Back-to-School Event, then look for a Welcome email from your child’s teacher the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 30th!

Class Wishlist/Donations vs. School Supply List

Please note that a Class Wishlist or Donation list indicates items that teachers ask for the entire class’s use. While a school supply list is for your individual child. New KHA Playground Coming Soon!

KHA fundraising efforts last year wrapped up by late June with funds to support the purchase and installation of new playground equipment and new playground certified mulch. The first half of the equipment was installed the first week in August. However, the remaining equipment isn’t due to arrive until early October. Then, the fresh 12 inch thick mulch will be spread over the entire playground. The equipment is coming from Germany and with supply chain issues still looming, we are unable to get it here sooner.

The Good News & the Bad News

KHA students will have a brand-new state-of-the-art playground to play on this school year. However, the current condition of the playground is unsafe and therefore will be roped off and not be used until all equipment and mulch is installed, and big machines are offsite. I will keep you posted as things progress.

Look for information regarding updated bus routes and times in your email from Susan Wilcox, our office manager, sometime this week.

Lunch Menu and order forms will go out this week. If you haven’t already, you should get the MySchoolBucks app and set up an account for your KHA Student.
